With everything going on in the external world, Pantone’s 2017 Color Greenery is the perfect color for the new year. It’s about slowing down as we enter 2017 and re-connecting with ourselves, with nature, and understanding what is truly important to each of us. According to Pantone, Greenery is “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew”. “It’s a green that signals vitality, energy and warmth from the sun and it represents rebirth and regeneration, according to Laurie Pressman, Vice President of Pantone Color Institute. I love green and am excited that Pantone has selected this shade of green for 2017. This vivid and bright green goes very well with black, white, royal purple, teal, and many other colors. So, how can you incorporate this color in your home or office in the new year? Below are some ideas to help you get started and to inspire you to make that transformation not only for your home or business but also for yourself.
I love hiking in nature and if you do too, plants are a great way to bring nature indoors. Plants come in many different species, sizes, fragrances, and shades of green. You can place plants anywhere in your home or office from small succulents on your bedside table, to philodendrons and winter jasmines in your kitchen, or banana leaf plants in your living room. Cacti’s are also a great plant to have in your home or office space. With plants, you’ll feel as if you are one soul with nature.
Paint is an easy and affordable way to incorporate a yellow-green color in your home. It’s an easy DIY project by yourself or with family and friends if you have the time and patience to do so. You can paint all the walls in your room, just the ceiling or one accent wall. If that is too much for you (especially since yellow green is a vibrant and striking color), paint trims, moldings, your doors, or accessories on a smaller scale to start off with and see how you feel about it. If you just want to start with your front door, go ahead!
You don’t have to buy new furniture to include Greenery in your home. You can paint an existing dresser, side table, bed frame, chair frames, or hanging light fixtures. You can also reupholster your sofa or head board in a solid or patterned yellow green fabric. It’s another fun DIY project that you can do with family and friends. Or, if you are in the market for new furniture, a velvet tufted sofa or accent chair in yellow green would add a splash of color and instantly brighten up your space.
Yellow Green is a vivid, bright, and cheerful color that not everyone may want to splash on a large scale all over their home or office. That is totally understandable. However, if you do want to add the color on a smaller scale, accessories are the way to go. Pillows in various patterns with a small dose of yellow green is the best way to start. Or, you can add a throw to your bedroom or living room sofa for a pop of color.
If love green or any shade of green and are all in, you can incorporate yellow green surfaces to your bathroom and kitchen remodeling project. You have to really love the color because using glass or ceramic tiles in your bathroom and kitchen will be a big investment and something you will have to live with for a long time. You can’t easily change it out like you would with paint. However, if you have decided that you are going for it, glass tiles work really well for a modern kitchen or bathroom design and adds a splash of bold color to those spaces.
