Holidays are a time when family and guests come together to converse, eat, drink, and be merry. Having a beautiful tablescape is a great way to show everyone your personality, who you have become since the past year, and just being joyful with your family during the holiday season. You can keep it simple with plain white dinnerware place settings with a splash of color on your table runner, or you can get creative and create a unique name card holder with a centerpiece that will wow your family and friends. However you decide to create your table setting, it will be about showing the people you care about your authentic self. Check out some Christmas tablescape and centerpiece ideas below to inspire you.
I love this tablescape with colorful bottlebrush trees in various sizes and colors. You don’t have to stick to just Christmas colors. Use any colors you like (such as Living Coral, Pantone’s 2019 color of the year) and place them in clusters at tables, mantels, and buffets for a modern twist to the traditional decor. Plus, it’s simple and easy to incorporate without breaking your budget.
Color is a powerful design tool for creating emotions and moods in a space. Take a room with white walls and change the color to Living Coral, Pantone’s 2019 color of the year for example, and it will instantly transform the space from plain to vibrant. Through color, you can make your home feel more calm and cozy, or vibrant and dramatic. Want to make a room appear larger or create a comfortable more intimate setting? The right colors can create the mood you want and also completely alter your experience in a space. With today’s fast paced world, people are really wanting to slow down and connect with mother earth and nature and just relax from all the pressures from the external world. We’ll be seeing more mindful, warm earthy tones for 2019 along with neutrals, shades of blue, and vibrant eccentric colors. Below are predictions from eight paint brands on the interior color that will be hot in 2019, along with tips on how and where to consider using them in your home.
There’s truly a lot to be thankful for and appreciative of and I don’t think many people take time on their own, alone, to sit quietly and self reflect on who they are, how they have grown, and what they are thankful for. Meditation is a great tool to do just that. I haven’t always shouted to the universe a great big “Thank You!” during bad days, but I know I definitely have a lot to be thankful for not just this Thanksgiving but everyday – My family, positive long term relationships, good health, the fact that I’m able to do what I love as an interior designer and being able to share my gift to the world, traveling to exotic places all over the world, and giving back to the community with Habitat for Humanity. But more than that, I’m truly thankful that I’ve grown so much over the past year as I continue to learn how to deal with difficult people, let go of toxic relationships, get better at setting my boundaries, and work on building up my confidence as a worthy, beautiful, amazing woman, interior designer, friend, colleague, and much more. I’ve been really blessed in my lifetime and I’m so thankful to the universe for all the good things in my life as well as all the even better things that are yet to come.
So, this Thanksgiving holiday, spend some time by yourself for a little bit outside your family and friends. Light some candles or turn on some music- whatever it takes to put yourself in a soothing and relaxing mood and meditate. Quiet your mind and ask your soul what are you truly thankful for besides your family, friends, pets, or career? You might be surprised by the answers that come up. Share it with your family and friends during Thanksgiving dinner. They will be grateful you did so. It will be a touching, emotional, and special moment that you’ll remember for years to come. I’ve gathered together some inspirational quotes about gratitude and thankfulness that has moved me and given me encouragement and motivation. Here’s a big thank you to everyone for being YOU this Thanksgiving.
Most people think about colors, furniture, and layout when they want to update their home or office. Most people don’t think about important design elements such as lighting or even interior doors. Creatively designed interior doors can add personality and character to a space, improve the flow of natural light, and also serve as flexible partitions to break up an open floor plan or connect two rooms. For example, your bedroom and bathroom doors can easily be replaced with a different style. You can add panels, glass, refinish your doors with paint and upholstery, or change your doors to pocket doors or a sliding barn door. An interior door adds a beautiful architectural detail and style that creates a focal point in a place where people’s eye will be drawn to it. Here are a few ways you can update your doors subtly or boldly either as a DIY project or with professional help that will elevate your space to a luxurious look and feel.
A fireplace brings a warm glow to any room whether it’s a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or outdoors. A fireplace creates a cozy and warm mood in any space, especially with a real cackling fire going on. Of course, there are other factors that play a part in the overall coziness and warmth of a space from the furniture to the colors, accessories and layout. But, a fireplace is a beautiful feature to have in your home that creates a feeling of intimacy where people can gather together and share in the warmth or simply enjoy the ambience of the room. If you are looking to give your fireplace a refresh (whether it’s small or large) and make it more cozy and inviting for your family and friends, here are a few tips to help inspire you to tackle your project head on.
