When it comes to the holiday season, we are all looking for ways to save time so we can really take advantage of the spirit of Christmas and spending time with our families. However, with a never ending to-do list, parties to go to, and Christmas shopping – time is the last thing we have to spare.
With family coming in and friends dropping by, you want a home that really shines and makes you feel proud to show it off. You may think that you can redecorate your living spaces, plan your Christmas parties, and buy everyone on your list their perfect present, but can you really? If you do manage to get it all done, you find yourself stressed out, exhausted, and spread too thin. Before you know it, you are glad the holidays are over and everything is back to “normal.” Where is the Christmas spirit in that?
The Do-it-Yourself Approach
Take a look at the infographic below that compares what I do as an interior designer and what many people feel like they can do using the DIY method to interior decorating. I don’t just go shopping for accessories and furniture and paint a few walls. I plan your space so that it fits your needs and your personality and I do so in a cost effective way so you are able to stay on budget and still get an amazing room that makes people go “wow”. More importantly, I have the education, the training, and the eye to select colors, fabrics, furniture, and accessories that just work together in a space. I can do so quickly and get a vision for the whole room using design boards and special software that lets me pull it all together in much less time than it takes the average homeowner to make decisions.
During the holiday season, saving time becomes one of the most important aspects of each day so that you can enjoy your time off from work and spend it with family. This doesn’t mean that you have to settle for a home that doesn’t make you happy and proud to live there, though.

Hire a Professional for the Job
In addition to the benefits already mentioned and highlighted in the infographic, think about it this way. What happens when you have spent money on new furniture and materials, used up all of your free time, and sacrificed time with your family and even your sleep to create the perfect home to end up with a result you don’t love? Not only will you be severely disappointed, but you will end up hiring someone to fix it eventually.
Instead of wasting the time, money, and energy to try the DIY approach – hire an expert the first time. I can do it all for you while you sit back and enjoy the Christmas season and all it has to offer. If you don’t want to fully commit to a full room (or multiple room) professional re-design, remember that you can also work with me during consultations to help you plan the room design and make choices so you still save time and money, but carry out some of the work yourself.
