Green is the color of Nature with great healing power that is soothing to your soul. It’s everywhere from the redwood trees to the food we eat to the money exchanged for goods and services and is the color of Saint Patrick’s day. When it comes to energy, the color Green governs the 4th Chakra – The Heart Chakra. Chakras are the main energy centers of the body where the spiritual and the physical meet.
The Heart chakra relates to emotions of love, compassion, empathy, and kindness. When we are balanced, we are able to give love to others and also to love and nurture ourselves. Loving ourselves, respecting ourselves, setting healthy boundaries, and treating our body, mind, and spirit with kindness and compassion cleanses and balances our energy. We feel a sense of renewal, growth, peace, and harmony not only within ourselves but also our surroundings. The color green connects us to unconditional love, balances our whole being, and has a soothing effect on the mind, body, and spirit.
To work on strengthening your heart chakra and balancing yourself, fill your surroundings with green. Here are 5 ways to soothe your mind, body, and spirit with the color green so you can radiate unconditional love not only to yourself but to the world.
1. Decorate With Green
Green is one of my favorite colors and I find it to be very soothing and relaxing when I see different shades of green. To create balance within yourself and soothe yourself, incorporate green into your home of office space. Splash your walls or ceiling with sage green to create soothing vibes. Add plush green velvet pillows to your sofa, chair, or bed for comfort and relaxation. Re-purpose furniture you have whether it’s a cabinet or a small side table in your favorite green. Paint your interior doors a dark green such as forest green to create contrast against neutral walls. Hang artwork or photographs of nature and landscapes that instantly improves your mood and uplifts you when you look at it. Develop your Green Thumb Skills by incorporating plants into your space from small air plants to fiddle-leaf fig trees.
2. Wear Green
I’m naturally drawn to green without even being conscious of it at times. I have a number of green dresses in my closet because the color and style speak to me and relaxes me when I see it and wear it. Wear green clothes to soothe and relax your mind, body, and spirit. If you have tops, pants, shoes, jewelry, or purses that are green, wear it! If not, purchase one and see how you feel when you wear green. Drape a green cashmere shawl around you to calm you and envelope you with safety. Since green is the color of nature, it makes sense that people feel safe and relaxed in green as one feels calm, happier, and uplifted when walking outside in nature.
3. Spend Time Outside in Nature
Getting outside in nature whether it’s a short stroll around your neighborhood, a walk along the beach, or a hike in the woods among majestic redwood trees, is soothing and rejuvenating for your mind, body, and spirit. Not only does being outside oxygenate your heart, but it also helps keep your mind sharper, your body calmer and relaxed, your creative juices flowing, and your relationships happier. Being outside in nature is so powerful for our well-being that some doctors have begun prescribing walking and hiking outside as an adjunct to other treatments for disease. Being in nature encourages feelings of awe – a state of wonder and admiration coupled with a sense of being small in the presence of something bigger than yourself. It’s this emotion that helps lift up your spirit and soothe you.
4. Eat Green Vegetables
I used to eat meat but have made a recent decision to stop eating meat for personal beliefs. For now, I consider myself Pescatarian. When I eat salad for example, I always feel better afterwards. My energy feels lighter, energized, and balanced. My mood improves. I know quite a lot of people in my circle who don’t like vegetables, but start small if your diet doesn’t consist of veggies. Try eating small portions of lettuce, broccoli, spinach, brussels sprouts, or kale as well as herbs to open up your energy center. Everything has energetic properties including food, and choosing the right ones can really balance us out and soothe us. It’s important regardless to have a well-balanced diet so add green vegetables to your diet if currently your diet consists mostly of meat and carbs.
During these challenging times with uncertainty and fear of the unknown, soothe and calm yourself with the color green. Green has great healing power that is very powerful and therapeutic to your mind, body, and spirit. It is a color that can help alleviate anxiety, depression, and nervousness during chaos and emotional imbalance. It is the 4th chakra that governs the heart and relates to emotions of love, compassion, empathy, and kindness. It’s perfect not only for Saint Patrick’s Day, but year round, so you can radiate unconditional love not only to yourself but to the world. And that’s what we need most right now, more love in the world.
